Tanzania Roundtable and SADC sustainability workshop
Introduction
FSD Africa in collaboration with the Committee of SADC Stock Exchanges (CoSSE) is organising a three-day, high-level capital markets roundtable and sustainability workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 28th February 2024 – 1st March 2024 for SADC member countries.
Overall, the Capital Markets roundtable and the SADC sustainability workshop’s objective is to facilitate strategic conversations on sustainable capital markets development given the critical role played by capital markets in mobilising both public and private capital.
The sessions are designed to be interactive and will shed light on the state of sustainability in the SADC region and discuss the opportunities for potential issuers and investors to use sustainability themes, intentional approaches, and guarantee mechanisms in enhancing achievement of sustainable development goals.
The sessions will leverage the expertise of key industry leaders, regulators, exchanges, government officials and a leading independent ESG and corporate governance research, ratings and analytics firm that will conduct the training sessions on sustainability policies and practices.
The objectives of the roundtable and workshop include:
Shedding light on the state of sustainability in Tanzania and the SADC region.
Discussing the opportunities for potential issuers and investors to use sustainability themed instruments, intentional approaches, and guarantee mechanisms in enhancing achievement of sustainable development goals.
Affording potential issuers, an opportunity to learn from experts and the Tanzanian experience in navigating the issuance process of thematic bonds.
Identify potential issuers and build a pipeline of potential issuances ultimately leading to increased issuances in the SADC region.
