Climate Finance Training Programme

Date: February – March 2023

The Climate Finance Training programme’s objective is to accelerate access to climate finance in sub-Saharan Africa by developing the in-country capacity of regional policymakers, regulators, academia, and financial market participants. A key component of the climate finance training is to provide requisite skills needed to access Green Climate Fund (GCF) or other climate funds, by fast-tracking accreditation of direct access entities (DAEs), training of key technical staff within government and other non-state actors through the provision of project preparation support to fast track capital mobilisation for climate-resilient projects within sub-Saharan Africa.

Borne out of the great need within the region to create a regional centre of excellence on climate finance, this bespoke training programme was developed through a partnership between FSD Africa, the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI).
