The Financial Inclusion Using Agency Banking project is a 3-year partnership between Equity Bank Congo and FSD Africa. The project aims to increase access to saving, loan and insurance products for over 1 million unserved and under-served people and MSMEs in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), through innovative agency banking models.
The project will train 4,000 people to become bank agents across 22 of DRC’s 26 provinces. The Equity Cash Express agents will help unbanked populations in rural areas, including farmers, youth, women and small-business owners, to gain better access to financial services including savings accounts, credit, and micro-insurance products.
FSD Africa’s support will also enable Equity Bank Congo to conduct vital market research, develop new products and build internal capacity to serve unserved and under-served customer segments in DRC.
