Project description

This project aims to develop a policy and regulatory framework for the licensing and regulation of capital market service providers and self-regulatory organisations in Ethiopia.

Target Results

  • Improved and responsive policies and regulatory frameworks for capital markets in Ethiopia
  • Creating a robust enabling framework for capital market intermediaries required to provide capital market services in Ethiopia
  • Increased domestic and international investor confidence and investment opportunities in SSA financial markets
  • Effective regulatory regime and capacity
  • Ultimate long-term impacts such as (i) more capital resources available and allocated more efficiently and effectively to finance long-term inclusive economic growth (ii) increased access to jobs (iii) inclusive economic growth

Progress to date

  • The consultants have conducted stakeholder consultations with market players in Ethiopia as a precursor to the public exposure of the final draft of the framework.
