Derick Omollo

Derick has over nine years of experience in finance and grants management, working with both profit and non-profit organizations across Africa. Before joining FSD Africa, he served as Senior Associate Grants and Budgets for the Africa Region at Evidence Action. In this role, he managed grants and budgets, conducted budget reviews and consolidation, handled budget vs. actual reporting and donor financial reporting. Derick also played a key role in the country procurement committee and facilitated budget holder review meetings, which helped optimize fund utilization and informed future decision-making. He collaborated with the finance team to support monthly and quarterly finance close processes.

Prior to Evidence Action, Derick was a Finance Associate at Shujaaz Inc., where he progressed from Finance Assistant. He led the transition to online operations prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, enabling efficient remote work and a seamless 2020 audit. His responsibilities included general ledger reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, variance reports, donor financial reports, preparing revenue by partner reports, audit process and supporting the Finance Manager in updating the firm’s risk framework. Derick began his career as an Assistant Accountant at Koinonia Community, where he handled bank reconciliations, budget preparation, and cash flow management.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting) from the Technical University of Kenya, a CPA from RCM College, and various certifications in financial modeling, data analysis, and grants management. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Finance at the University of Nairobi.

Emmanuel Yongo Wafula

Emmanuel has over 10 years of experience in governance, risk and compliance drawn from working with both profit and non-profit organizations within the region.

Prior to joining FSD Africa, Emmanuel worked with Centum Investment Company Plc, leading ESG, Risk and Compliance Function. He assisted Centum’s investee companies faced with increased pressure to improve their governance and risk management effectiveness, and unprecedented regulatory requirements to turn these disruptive forces into opportunities while ensuring business continuity, accountability, and process efficiency. He also helped to enhance the ESG framework to help the organization better identify ESG risks and opportunities and integrate these into the investment cycle.

Prior to joining Centum he worked at KPMG as a Senior Risk Consultant where he was responsible for developing and implementing risk management frameworks for clients in the public and private sectors.

Emmanuel holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Nairobi. He is a Certified Investment and Financial Analyst and holds an International Certification in Risk Management from the Institute of Risk Management (UK).

During his free time, Emmanuel enjoys travelling, listening to music, and following live sports i.e., football, rugby, basketball, and formula 1.

Dominica Nkonge

Dominica is a seasoned risk management professional with over 18 years’ experience in the discipline. Her expertise spans enterprise risk management, risk and controls assessment, compliance management, performance improvement, risk assurance audits, fraud risk management, process and systems development and business continuity management.

She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Systems and Processes Auditor in the Assurance and Consulting practices. She later transitioned to the Risk and Quality function within PwC where she served in the East & West Africa, South Africa and Africa regions respectively.

Dominica holds a BSc Computer Science degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), an MBA in Strategic Management from USIU-Africa and is a certified member of the Institute of Risk Management UK (IRM).

Dominica is passionate about developing strong leaders and has authored books on leadership. She is an ardent archer and enjoys painting.

Stacy Goga

We are pleased to announce that Stacy Goga has joined us as a member of staff effective today, 11th April 2023. She had previously worked with us as an intern in Finance pillar for a period of six months.

Prior to that, she had worked as an attachee at Capex Life Assurance and worked as a volunteer with Kenyatta National Hospital. Stacy has Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Finance Option from Strathmore University. and a Diploma in Insurance from College of Insurance.

She loves travelling to different destinations around the world and also passionate about domesticating dogs because he considers them loyal and lovable. She has a pet dog.

Lynn Mary Mutonga

Lynn has over three years of experience in finance and management consulting, working with both profit and non-profit companies across East Africa.

Her experience includes working with the finance team at FSDA since November 2019, both as a project staff seconded by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Kenya while working at the firm and an independent consultant. During her time here, she provided financial management and audit support to the organization, with one of her key responsibilities involving transitioning the organisation’s financial data to the new Dynamics-Navision Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

While at PwC, Lynn worked as an Associate Management Consultant and was involved in various projects, including being the lead associate under the 3rd party verification for the REACT SSA-Kenya Program by AECF, a lead assessor for five organisations spread across KEI TZ, and RW under the Technical and Institutional Capacity Enhancement Support to High-Potential Private Sector and Civil Society Organizations (PSO/CSOs) across East Africa and new Frontiers’ by Trademark East Africa, and an assessor under the Good Financial Grant Practice (GFGP) Certifications by the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), amongst others.

Lynn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Daystar University and PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner Certificates in Project Management.

Fred Gituthu

Fred is a finance graduate and a qualified accountant with a decade-long professional and management-level experience. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and has worked across multiple financial services sectors over the last decade including development, investment advisory, financial and education technology with both start-ups and established organisations with a global presence and operations in East Africa.

Fred was seconded to FSD Africa by PwC Kenya as a Manager in Finance in Dec 2019. Prior to joining the accountancy firm as Senior Associate, he was  a financial analyst and budding CFO with a Nairobi-based, and Africa-focused, investment adviser and start-up fund manager. Fred has also held a senior role as finance manager with sQuid Kenya, a UK headquartered and FCDO funded financial and education technology company, where he was instrumental in the setting up of local operations and development of the firm. Fred started his career in finance with SOS Children’s Villages, a global non-profit children’s organisation, over a decade ago.

Fred is passionate about global financial developments and political affairs. During his spare time, he’ll get involved in local community projects, practise his DJ skills across a variety of music genres, or embark on a road trip across the country.

Anne Kamau

Anne has 10 years’ experience in Finance, Operations and Grants Management working in profit and non-profit companies across East Africa.

She worked with the World Bank as a Financial Consultant for the Core Business Skills Training (CBST) – Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP). Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked with Kosher Development Solutions as the Head of Finance and Operations. Her role involved systems improvement, financial management and reporting. Some of her key notable achievements at Kosher were: Successfully led Restructuring and Change Management using comprehensive Talent Evaluations and Demand Planning. Recovered over 1,000 man-hours and millions lost in inefficient, disparate systems, streamlining operations with Microsoft Dynamics ERP. Increased legal and tax compliance by assessing business process and risk exposure in own and client businesses in collaboration with legal teams.

Earlier on, she worked with Dalberg Advisors a consultancy firm, as a Finance and Operations Lead where she formalized financial and operational aspects of the business and oversaw the performance of all executive-sponsored projects & grants across East Africa. She was also the first Finance Manager for Ajua- a technology company that provides Integrated Customer Experience Solution for Businesses in Africa. Anne began her career as a portfolio accountant at Blackrock Capital Limited, a Private Equity Investment firm with diversified investments across East Africa.

Anne holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Finance and Accounting, Certified Public Accountant in Kenya CPA(K), have a Diploma in Business Information Technology all from Strathmore University. She also holds a certificate in Grants Management from Strathmore Business School.

Walter Ngode

Walter has 10 years of experience in Finance drawn from working in a multinational as well as local start-ups in Africa.

Prior to joining FSD Africa, Walter was working as a Senior Financial Consultant in Prolific Business Consultants where he supported organizations in their financial planning and analysis. He assisted them to model different business scenarios, advice on pricing as well as doing their budgets and financial projections. He also helped improve financial reporting and perform financial analysis to assess the health of the business and give recommendations on areas to improve on. He also worked on policies that would improve the financial controls of the business and help them better manage their finances.

Before joining Prolific he worked at GE Africa as a Financial Analyst and before that as a Financial Management Trainee where he was responsible for budgeting and blueprint design, financial reporting on variance analysis to plan as well as cost management. He also engaged in commercial finance, overall financial reporting of the business and implementing financial controls. In GE he worked for the Healthcare Business, the Power Generation Business as well as the Sales and Project Finance function of the business. He was exposed to working in different businesses in different countries which included Kenya, South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria

In his early career, he worked at PwC Advisory as a Grants Accountant responsible for overseeing the grant application process, grant disbursement as well as efficient use of the grant money to carry out the donors projects activities. He was also responsible for training the grantees on financial reporting and ensuring that their reports presented a true and fair view of the financial expenditures.

He has a Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Finance) from the University of Nairobi, a CPA from Vision Institute and a certificate in Financial Modelling and Valuation from the Corporate Finance Institute.

Lenah Moraa

Lenah began her career at the Old Mutual Group as a Treasury Accountant and then transitioned to the Risk and Compliance department where she has been working as a Risk and Compliance specialist supporting Kenya and surrounding East African region. She has experience and expertise in enterprise risk management, compliance management ,project management ,anti-money laundering and Terrorist financing and business continuity planning.

Lenah holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Strategic Management and a Bachelor of Commerce(Finance option) degree from the University of Nairobi .She is a Certified Public Accountant  and a member of ICPAK.She is also a certified member of the  Institute of risk Management (UK).

Steve Mwithi

Steve has over 22 years of experience in Accounting and Finance drawn from companies in private and public sector space mainly in the East and West Africa region.

His last assignment was as a Financial Controller at EABL where he was in charge of all finance operations for Kenya Breweries Ltd, UDV and East Africa Breweries South Sudan.

Prior to joining EABL, he worked with Haco Tiger Brands as a Finance Director and with PwC as an audit manager for 11 years among others. He also spent 2 years in Lagos working with PwC Nigeria.

Steve has an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting option) degree from the University of Nairobi. He is also a CPA and is a member of ICPAK.
