Kaara Wainaina joins us as the role of Senior Manager, Advocacy and Partnerships within Strategic Communications Pillar. He is a communication and media professional, whose illustrious career over the last 15 years has navigated through the worlds of mainstream media, corporate communication, and stakeholder management in private, public and development sectors. He has won accolades among them the CNN Africa Journalist of the Year in Finance and Economics while working for NTV. Nation Media Group. Kaara has managed stakeholder, project communication, campaigns, publications, high level events and media functions in among other organisations KenGen, PPP Unit at the National Treasury and recently at TradeMark Africa.
A firm believer in the role effective communication plays in building strong and cohesive organisational teams, rallying stakeholders around key objectives, achieving corporate goals, and demonstrating impact, Kaara relishes an opportunity to find solutions to organisational communication challenges.
Kaara holds a BA in Electronic Media and Marketing from Daystar university and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Divinity from Pan African Christian University. In his free time, he enjoys producing short television documentaries and volunteers as a facilitator and mentor in a children& youth Sunday school class.
Joseph has over 8 years of experience in the advertising industry, where he has led and contributed to a wide range of impactful campaigns across sectors such as banking, energy, alcohol, and FMCG. His expertise spans art direction, UI/UX design, and digital advertising, enabling him to create innovative solutions that align with client needs and bring concepts to life.
Throughout his career, Joseph has worked closely with graphic designers to ensure the smooth execution of projects from concept to completion, consistently meeting deadlines and staying within budget. He excels in collaborative environments, working closely with both clients and internal teams and is deeply involved in every stage of a project.
Starting as a graphic designer in a creative agency, Joseph has developed a strong foundation in creating visual content for digital platforms, publications, and out-of-home media such as posters and billboards. His experience helped him grow as a creative. Later, in a marketing agency, he expanded his skill set further by handling responsibilities ranging from social media content creation to UI design.
Now, as part of the FSD Africa team, he is eager to contribute to the organisation’s growth and make a meaningful impact. He is excited about collaborating, learning, and producing work the entire team can be proud of.
Allan Musumba is talented communication professional with 7 years of experience in the non-governmental industry. Prior to joining FSD Africa, he was the focal communications officer for over five project teams at African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), a pan-African research organisation aimed at transforming African lives through research.
Over the years, Allan has developed a strong skill set in content creation, media relations, and digital media management. His creative approach to communications has earned him a reputation for delivering exceptional results to various project teams he worked with in his previous roles.
Allan is a proactive and adaptable professional who seeks new and innovative ways to engage with audiences. To this end, he has familiarised himself with various graphic design tools.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Marketing specialisation) from Africa Nazarene University and is currently undertaking his Masters in Communication Studies with a specialisation in Strategic and Digital communications at the United States International University – Africa.
Outside work, Allan is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys hiking.
Joyce is a development and media professional whose career over the past ten years has navigated through grant management, strategic communications, mainstream media, and investor relations. She previously worked as FSD Kenya’s Communications Manager, where she spearheaded the overhaul of FSD Kenya’s branding and established the FSD Kenya Annual Lecture, driving industry dialogue on financial inclusion.
Joyce holds a Master of Science in International Development from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Integrated International Studies from Knox College in Illinois, USA. In September 2019, Joyce was invited to New York as a Goalkeeper under the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, alongside a selected number of new-generation leaders, to accelerate progress towards the global Sustainable Development Goals.
Outside of FSDAi, Joyce is a gospel music minister and songwriter, a renowned Kenyan television and event host, as well as the founder of a faith-based women’s community of over 12,000 registered members.
