Barbara has over 15 years of experience working across international development, green financing and responsible investments.

She joins FSD Africa to lead the launch of a Blue Finance Hub in Mauritius, helping catalyse innovative financing mechanisms for sustainable ocean-based development across the Indian Ocean region.

Before joining FSD Africa, Barbara was an Executive Director and Head of Sustainability at Calvert Research & Management, the specialised responsible investment affiliate of Morgan Stanley, where she led the development and implementation of climate and impact frameworks across the firm’s listed equity and fixed income investment strategies. She previously held multiple roles within Morgan Stanley, including in capital markets, advising companies, governments’ debt management offices and agencies on their sustainable financing programmes and issuance of green bonds.

Earlier in her career, Barbara also worked with the World Bank’s Financial and Private Sector Development unit in Tanzania, contributing to policy lending and technical assistance projects to support financial services and business environment reforms in East Africa.

Barbara holds an M.B.A. with Distinction from HEC Paris and a M.Sc. in economics and social sciences from Bocconi University.
