Abdulmumin Usman has five years of experience in development research, policy analysis and programme implementation across Nigeria and other African countries, with a focus on financial inclusion, agriculture, gender, political economy and inclusive economic development.
Before joining FSD Africa, Abdulmumin worked with Genesis Analytics on projects in Nigeria, Tanzania and Mozambique. He supported the costing of Tanzania’s NDC Implementation Plan, the analysis of public and development finance flows for climate adaptation across 12 districts in Mozambique, and served as Nigeria Country Consultant on an FSD Africa, Shell Foundation and Shortlist study examining green jobs, workforce supply and skills gaps in Africa. He has also undertaken political economy research on Nigeria’s digital agricultural extension services ecosystem with Africa Practice, conducted socioeconomic and environmental impact evaluation of cocoa and cashew sourcing, and supported agricultural programme implementation, monitoring and farmer engagement under the USAID West Africa Trade and Investment Hub.
His research interests include financial resilience, productive credit, climate adaptation and the economic inclusion of underserved populations. His experience also includes mixed methods research, stakeholder engagement, programme monitoring, data quality assurance, impact reporting and the development of policy reports, presentations and other knowledge products for governments, development partners and private sector audiences.
Abdulmumin holds a B.Agric. in Agricultural Economics from Kogi State University and has completed his coursework for the award of an M.Sc. in Economics from Nile University of Nigeria.
Outside of work, Abdulmumin has a passion for social storytelling, photography and badminton.
