Officer, Risk & Compliance

John joins FSD Africa from Save the Children International, where he most recently served as Programme Funding Analysis & Insight Specialist within the Global Programme Funding team, producing portfolio-level funding & compliance analytics, financial forecasting models, and strategic dashboards that informed decision-making across Save the Children’s global network. Prior to his global role, he served as Risk, Compliance & Awards Management Officer at Save the Children International Kenya & Madagascar Country Office where he managed compliance across a $200M+ institutional grant portfolio of 100+ active awards from USAID, FCDO, UKAID, ECHO, UN Agencies, and BMZ across Kenya and Madagascar.

Before Save the Children, John served as Risk & Compliance Assistant at Plan International Kenya, where he conducted in-depth compliance audits, administered the organisational Enterprise Risk Management system, managed a $5M+ donor grant portfolio, and delivered risk and compliance capacity building for staff and implementing partners. He also brings financial data analysis experience from his time as Data Analyst at WWF International Kenya, where he supported conservation programme financial reporting and strategic analytics.

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from Strathmore University, is finalising his Master of Science in Development Finance at Strathmore Business School, thesis stage only remaining and has completed his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examinations. He also holds a Certificate in Development Finance from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

Outside of work, John is a passionate cyclist and has taken on some of Kenya’s most demanding endurance rides.
