Kevin has over 16 years of experience in the insurance industry, 5 years as an Underwriter and 11 in insurance regulation and supervision, with a particular focus on risk-based supervisory frameworks and regulatory innovation, gained within Uganda’s insurance sector.
His experience includes serving at the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) since 2015, most recently as Manager, Licensing & Compliance, where he was involved in risk-based supervisory interventions across life and non-life insurers and intermediaries. Since December 2020, he has also chaired the IRA Regulatory Sandbox, Uganda’s first insurance regulatory sandbox, providing strategic leadership and governance oversight for two innovation cohorts and five sandbox pilots, including the IRA InsureX Programme, which supported insurtech start-ups to test parametric products, artificial intelligence, pay as you go products, alternative underwriting data, and digital distribution models within a controlled regulatory environment.
Kevin has represented IRA on several cross-sectoral platforms, including the Financial Sector Stability Forum Crisis Management Working Group and the Disaster Risk Financing Strategy Working Group under Uganda’s Ministry of Finance, and has represented the Authority at regional regulatory innovation forums.
Kevin holds a Master of Science in Risk Management from Glasgow Caledonian University, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from Makerere University, Uganda. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) and a Graduate of the Institute of Risk Management (Grad IRM), is an ILO certified impact trainer of trainers and is a Microinsurance Master.
