FSD Africa and the Climate Action Platform for Africa (CAP-A) have published technical briefs on how sovereign policy design determines whether African carbon markets attract investment.
Markets now read sovereign credibility through the design and operation of national carbon systems. Architecture — not ambition — drives risk allocation, pricing, deal viability, buyer participation, liquidity, and the ability to mobilise capital at scale. What matters is whether sovereign systems reduce uncertainty, allocate risk transparently, and support durable participation.
