Kevin brings a wealth of experience in software and data engineering from his previous roles and work experience. This includes an internship position here at FSD Africa where he has made significant contributions by enhancing the DIMIS platform with innovative features, streamlined data collection processes and introduced generative Artificial Intelligence to FSD Africa’s Development impact processes.
With a strong academic background including a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Dedan Kimathi University of Technology and certification in Software Engineering from ALX Africa, Kevin is well-equipped to contribute to FSD Africa’s Development Impact objectives.
In his new role, Kevin will play a crucial part in innovation building, data management, capacity building and AI integration, ultimately contributing to our efforts in improving development impact management processes.
Beyond his professional expertise, Kevin also enjoys playing chess games in his free time, a hobby that allows him to exercise strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Arjmand Banu Khan joins FSD Africa with over 2 decades of experience working in the international development sector, She has dedicated her professional career towards issues 01 advancing gender equality and promoting and protecting women’s and girls rights. She is passionate about social inclusion and the economic empowerment of women.
She has successfully initiated and led several national and regional initiatives that have helped to address poverty and improve the lives of vulnerable groups Banu has worked for several international NGOs as well as over a decade with Women where she led the women’s economic empowerment portfolio with a strong focus on enhancing women and youth led MSME access to sustainable markets and engagement with the private sector for gender equality.
Arjmand has carved a reputation in the development world as a go to facilitator, gender mainstreaming expert and apt workshop facilitator. She is also a published author. She has worked with UN Women, Population Council and Care International among others.
She is an Executive coach holds a Masters degree in demography from the University of Nairobi and her research interests are in the area of gender climate and conflict nexus.
Arjmand loves her profession as a development worker and community building. When she is not working. she enjoys traveling, gardening, playing table tennis and she is a safari rally fan.
Brenda is passionate about solving problems using data and breaking down data into simple insights for decision making. She will be responsible for analysing and managing impact data on FSD Africa interventions as the Development Impact Analyst, Before joining FSD Africa. Brenda worked at GSMA as a Data Analyst where she was responsible for collecting, cleaning and analyzing Mobile Money data for the State of the Industry Report on Mobile Money 2023 to drive financial inclusion and growth in the Mobile Money industry.
She holds a degree in Climate Change and Development with IT as well as a certificate in Data Science from Moringa School. Outside of work, Brenda enjoys adventurous activities, reading
books and taking care of her furry friends (cats).
Julius Karl D. Fieve is an innovative International Development Specialist with over 11 years of experience in the non-profit sector, driving impactful initiatives across Africa. He has a proven track record in research and analysis, project management, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), financial inclusion, gender programming and women’s economic empowerment, and knowledge management.
Julius leveraged extensive experience in Africa and developing countries’ economic empowerment and spearheaded initiatives that expanded financial access for marginalized individuals, including women and refugees.
As a Research and Knowledge Coordinator at Opportunity International, Julius managed high-level analyses on poverty dynamics and provided technical leadership on the implementation of financial inclusion interventions, increasing access to financial products and services to over 100,000 poor and extreme poor households and smallholder farmers in 32 countries. He previously worked with the Mastercard Foundation, where he assisted the Gender Lead to build the capacity of partners to effectively engage women, people with disabilities, refugees, and displaced youth in their programs and amplify learning and knowledge exchange.
Julius’s expertise extends to managing multi-million-dollar budgets, developing strategic frameworks, and conducting gender-focused evaluations. He holds two master’s degrees—MSc in Africa and International Development from the University of Edinburgh as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar and MSc in Economics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Julius is committed to fostering gender equality, financial inclusion, and sustainable development, making him a transformative leader in global development initiatives.
Julius likes reading, visiting tourist sites, watching football, and engaging communities around a developmental course during his leisure time.
Wanjiru has over 5 years’ experience in the international development space across several sectors in Sub-Saharan Africa, with prior experience in banking.
Before joining FSD Africa, Wanjiru worked as an associate consultant in Instiglio, a development consulting firm where she specialised in scoping, designing and evaluating results-based financing projects. Most relevant for her role in FSD Africa, Wanjiru supported the setup of a performance management system for the Education Outcomes Fund in Ghana and the design of a toolkit to promote firm competitiveness for jobs and economic transformation at the subnational level in Kenya in her previous role.
She holds a Master’s degree in International Development and a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial economics. She also holds certificates in complementary fields.
Outside of work, Wanjiru enjoys the great outdoors from traveling, sports and spending time with loved ones.
Ryan is a results-oriented and exceptionally skilled measurement and results management professional, with in-depth knowledge and expertise in assessing performance and effectiveness of development programmes in agricultural and economic competitiveness sectors across Africa. In his roles, he has worked in multi-donor Market Systems Development programmes applying various measurements standards, including Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) standard for results measurement.
Prior to joining FSD Africa, Ryan was working for Palladium in Rwanda as MRM manager for an agricultural value chain DFID funded programme. He had earlier worked in the same capacity for Technoserve (TNS) for a multi-country programme based in South Africa and covering Zambia, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Burkina Faso. Early in his career, he worked at Kenya Markets Trust in Kenya as a Knowledge and results manager.
His extensive experience is complemented by his academic qualifications in Economics and Statistics.
Janine has 10 years experience providing leadership in results management, knowledge management & learning, action research, project management, and communications in development work, including 4+ years in a senior management position. With a zeal to influence change using evidence, Janine led efforts to position AFR as a knowledge hub through the development of a knowledge management and learning framework, setting up development impact measurement systems and driving action research to inform strategic decisions within Rwandas financial sector. She has also made contributions to many papers, including CAHFs (Centre for Affordable Housing Finance) Annual Yearbook and coordinated Finscope surveys in Rwanda. Previous experiences include managing private sector development projects at CARE Rwanda and International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group). She has actively participated in the FSD Network MRM Working Group, chairing it during its inception phase in 2017 and most recently chairing the Impact Measurement and Management Technical Working Group.
Janine has been a fellow of two prestigious global leadership programs; the Presidents Obamas Mandela Washington Fellowship (YALI), and the Community Solutions Program (CSP). She holds a Masters in Economic Policy Management and a Bachelors degree in Quantitative Economics (Statistics & Applied Economics) from Makerere University. She also holds Diplomas in Community Development and Leadership from George Mason University USA, and Sustainable Business Management from the Swedish Institute.
Janine lives in Kigali, Rwanda with her family and she enjoys travelling, watching movies, and meeting people from diverse cultures.
Frank is a well versed, professional, and experienced expert in Project management, Monitoring and Evaluation with a background in Agricultural Economics.
Throughout his career, Frank has engaged himself extensively in Monitoring and Evaluation of development projects. He is endowed with analytical and problem-solving skills while his key expertise includes results-based Management, Technical writing and Social-economic research.
Prior to joining FSD Africa, Frank served at Gatsby Africa as the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Manager where he oversaw performance measurement. He has also worked with PELUM Association Tanzania and Tanzania Horticultural Association as the Monitoring and Evaluation lead. He has a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from the Sokoine University of Agriculture and is about to finish his Master of Arts in Monitoring and Evaluation from the Open University of Tanzania.
Frank currently lives in Tanzania. He enjoys travelling, cycling, and spending time with his kids and their colourful lives.
Arthur has over a decade of experience working in the development impact space. This experience spans across multiple non-government and non-profit agencies.
Arthur has specialised in the automation of M&E systems and worked as a UN volunteer at the United Nations Development Programme in Somalia where he led the development and implementation of an M&E results and grants tracking system. He also has experience in working with the United Nations Development Programme in Kenya where he established and automated a CSO monitoring and reporting system within the civil society programme. Part of his skillset is in partner capacity building and bringing innovative change through tech within the development impact space.
Currently he is in charge of quality assurance and overseeing a development impact management information system across the organisation tracking FSD Africa’s development impact work across sub-Saharan Africa.
Arthur has a degree in Software Engineering and several certifications in the development impact space.
Kevin Munjal is FSD Africas Director, Development Impact (DI). He is responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of FSD Africas (including FSDAi) DI planning and management assets systems, resources, tools and processes ensuring that they generate evidence products that help visualise FSD Africas impact and inform internal adaptive management efforts. He represents Management on the Development Committee a committee of the Board that is responsible for FSD Africas development impact.
Kevin joined FSD Africa in December 2015 to set up the Development Impact Unit and has been leading its evolution since then. He has close to 15 years of experience and expertise in designing, managing, and tracking the impact of inclusive growth development initiatives targeting different population categories across SSA. Prior to joining FSD Africa, Kevin worked with GOAL Global – at the intersection of humanitarian and development programming where he led the organisations Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) efforts in Kenya. He also provided support to the Malawi and South Sudan country programmes. He has also worked with the Kenya Community Development Foundation and AMREF Health Africa in various MEAL and programme management capacities.
Kevin has a deep appreciation of the role of public and private sector development, market systems development, and public-private partnerships in advancing developing economies towards realising the Sustainable Development Goals. He is particularly passionate about the green agenda for Africa and seeks to contribute to it personally by planting trees and helping restore lost green spaces.
He holds a Masters in Population Studies from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelors degree in Public Health, and several certifications including one on Climate Finance.
